well this was a pleasant surprise to receive the email about the "reopening". One of the few bright spots in the last few months. I missed this place. Looking forward to getting back to visiting it regularly .by MrInteresting
My wife gave me two great books for Christmas Kembrew McLeod's excellent "Downtown Pop Underground" (and mentions Trouser Press btw) which I just finished and DeCurtis' Lou Reed bio which I will be starting this weekend during the upcoming snowstorm. Can't wait to get into it. Post Edited (03-01-19 14:22)by MrInteresting
none of these bands are my kind of music , but in the interest of full disclosure I do have to admit I don't immediately flip the dial when Linkin Park's "Crawling" or "In The End" comes on .by MrInteresting
I read this last year, (well about 90% of it- I found it tends to drag on towards the end of the book making for a bit of tediousness . He remains the "white whale" of biographers everywhere, imhoby MrInteresting
I wasnt familiar with Laura Veirs until reading this thread. I am one of those that digs the "singer/songwriter stuff' (being an aspiring one myself) and am glad I stopped by today. Good stuff, particularly "July Flame". I hear a bit of Neko Case's influence in there among others.by MrInteresting

At 71 the "lad" put on a hell of a show. At 46, it was the first time I was able to afford the "pilgrimage" . Also was the first time I was ever at Fenway for anything but a Red Sox game. Definitely added to the surrealism of the experience. Great night. Post Edited (07-10-13 12:20)by MrInteresting

saw B.A.D in 2011 just to be in the same room again with Mick Jonesby MrInteresting
love the lads originally known as "Shake Appeal" (I am sure they never regretted renaming the band) since I picked up "Raise" on a whim back in the early 90s. Then saw them live with my bandmates at TTs in Cambridge, MA in maybe 92 or 93 - a show so packed the fire marshall came and made some unlucky latercomers leave. "Son of Mustang Ford" is one of my all-time favoby MrInteresting
I am just outside of Cambridge...wish I had paid closer attention to my own thread . hadnt a clue he was playing locally the next day . Ha!by MrInteresting
anyone know if they have any plans to tour?by MrInteresting
well said R. I read recently somewhere that they were considered the "American Beatles" . After regaining consciousness I took to TP to start this thread.by MrInteresting
unfortunately when it comes to Cheap Trick it seems my brain interprets most of their tunes as if they were "The Flame". I may give "budokan" a listen...sometime when I feel like losing an irreplaceable block of time from my life...by MrInteresting
this past weekend the garage band I jam with started working a CT tune into the set (He's A Whore). I have to admit this is a band that I still remain pretty indifferent to . I just listened to the "Essential" disk on Spotify...still don't get itby MrInteresting
Frank Sumatra ! excellent band but I always have a soft spot for "Painter Beckham and the All Blacks" groundbreaking album "Humankind Cup"by MrInteresting
agreed. Watusi is strong as wellby MrInteresting
been rediscovering this album recently thanks to The Spotify. ( one thing Spotify certainly has been good for has been reviving long lost analog recordings) a hugely underrated , largely ignored Albini-engineered/produced gem . so. damn. good.by MrInteresting
