Per Anthony DeCurtis' biography of him, the last song Lou Reed listened to before he died seems to have been "Say It Isn't So" by Hall & Oates.

Hmmm... What i’d like to know is if it just happened to be on or did he CHOOSE to listen to it.

I’m hoping for the latter. Just more surprising and interesting that way.

It seems to have been on a Spotify playlist he compiled himself.

It makes sense - he was always a big fan of the same stuff that influenced Hall & Oates - doo-wop, vintage soul music, etc. It's not really much of a stretch that he'd have been a Hall and Oates fan, and apparently he and Oates were pals after sharing a vocal spot or two on "Sun City" and appearing in the video together.

My wife gave me two great books for Christmas Kembrew McLeod's excellent "Downtown Pop Underground" (and mentions Trouser Press btw) which I just finished and DeCurtis' Lou Reed bio which I will be starting this weekend during the upcoming snowstorm. Can't wait to get into it.
