An eccentric but musically responsible duo (mainly Michael Atavar) which blends the sensibility of Eno’s early work (among many other stylistic avenues) with bizarre near-dada subjects/lyrics. Fontana Mix use synths and guitars to produce oddly embroidered songs that are neither too weird for normals nor overly mundane for those who demand fringeness. (The band bills the LP as “nine chill splinters of unreality.”) Mostly whimsical, occasionally serious, The Noise Spiral offers charming moments, witty turns and amazing treats. Fascinating and entertaining.
