Who can argue with the Bluebells and a double shot of Cheap Trick?!?

Insect Surfers playing a big surf festival in a couple weeks, celebrating their 45th anniversary. Claiming that they are the world's longest-lived continuously performing surf band. Not like, say, the things calling themselves The Surfaris who disappear for years. Or the Ventures , who are basically a tribute band - no orig members in years.

Up here, we have a smaller surf-rock festival, "Surf by Surfwest." I don't anticipate the Insect Surfers showing up to play at it, any time soon -- indeed, the band's web site hasn't been updated (at least not with any gigs) since 2022. But the Pacific Northwest still is fertile ground for reverb-laden guitars, quasi-tribal drum grooves and Farfisa organs.

Another all-vinyl show next week. (I find myself tending to gravitate to that approach, on Fridays where I don't see a lot of rock birthdays.)
