I quite likes me some Dicks punk stuff. Even in the wild n wooly days of hardcore, Floyd's gay cowboy persona was, shall we say, rather unique. Sadly not really familiar with his later bands, who I've always been meaning to check out.

Saluted in song by fellow Texas weirdos The Butthole Surfers, recorded for the trifecta of AmerIndie labels (SST, Alternative Tentacles, SubPop), the man's place in history is secure.

And he was on Warner Brothers for one album!

I knew Sister Double Happiness before I knew the Dicks, but both had moments of greatness. (Black Kali Ma was good too.) He had one of those great rock & roll voices. All his work is worth a spin or three.
