They're hitting North America this year for what looks like a rather punishing string of live dates. I understand they plan to perform Strange Times from start to finish on this tour.

I really enjoyed their show last year on the joint tour with the Mission and am interested to see them get a full headlining set of their own, rather than the sub-60 minutes they were allowed last time. Plus, Strange Times is my favorite of their albums, so I'm going to try to get to this. It's at a weird venue in Portland, which typically gets more punk or goth acts., but as I recall, it's a pretty decent place.

You're right though - punishing indeed! 6 straight nights of shows between Vancouver and SF, and then one day off before 9 more consecutive nights!

They are planning a new re-issue of Strange Times this year.

I have a 4AM work start the day of the Seattle show, and the next day as well. So I'm pretty reluctant to plan for that show.

On the other hand, if the band can handle a couple of months of "punishment," then it's not too much to ask me to cope for one late night.

More US dates in October. I've seen one already for Atlanta 10/26.

Final US tour dates below. I bought my ticket yesterday. They are playing the same venue I saw them in Tampa last year w/ The Mission. The venue has a large outdoor stage and a small, cramped indoor stage. Hoping they play outdoors this time because the inside sounded like crap.

Weird that they're skipping Austin this trek - Chameleons VOX came through regularly. Hell, I'd even accept San Antonio. But those other Texas cities are too far away for a same day trip, and I'm not spending the night in El Paso.

Hmmm, I wonder if my wife & I can plan a visit to her family in late October. I've heard good things about The Saturn from other touring bands; it seems a shame to visit Birmingham two or three times a year and not check the place out for ourselves.

Never mind; it ain't gonna happen, for the same reason I missed the Chameleons gig this week in Seattle: I have classes scheduled.

Yes, I'm teaching.

Most of my classes these days are via WebEx ... and when my students are outside the U.S., my work day can start pretty early.

Yow! Greenville is only an hour away! I could make it home by 1am at the latest. Must try to see this show!

I grew up in Greenville and it's just astonishing to me that the Chameleons will be stopping there on this tour. I mean, it doesn't quite measure up to the Ozzy/Vandenberg show I saw at the Greenville Memorial Auditorium in 1983, but pretty cool, I guess.

Sounds like a good trade, Monk. If you're in or near Asheville, you're doing OK. That place has made quite the turnaround from the dingy milltown it seemed to be in my childhood.

Yep, we live in Asheville. Even though we're clearly in violation of the Microbrewery Act of 2004 and don't have a taproom in our home. Any day now, I expect the shock troops to kick down the doors...

I think the only Floridians are me and STEVE. The 801 contributed for a while, but like an old Spanish teacher of mine used to say, "he is no longer."

I'm quite content sitting in my living room with the Trouserpress fan club president listening to Helen Love.

But, it's the Chameleons, and their playing the very venue where I met the Trouserpress fan club president some thirty three years ago.
I feel there are forces way beyond my control at work here.

Wow, the Chameleons are going on tour! I'm beyond excited to see them live. Their music has been a huge part of my life, and getting the chance to experience their energy and talent in person is a dream come true. Can't wait to hear classics like "Swamp Thing" and "Second Skin" performed live. Who else is planning to catch a show? This is going to be an unforgettable experience.

Hi jack25! I looked at your profile because I didn't recognize your name and saw this is your first post. Welcome aboard!

The Chameleons have been touring a lot in the last 15 years or so (mostly under the name ChameleonsVox; when Reg rejoined a couple of years ago, they went back to The Chameleons), but this is their biggest one in a while. I've seen them twice in the past 5 years and will again this Oct in Tampa. They actually have some momentum brewing with Reg back in the fold, a new album in the works, an ep they just released, and the recent re-issue of Strange Times). Oh, and some actual press, including podcast interviews and an actual article in Mojo!

The Webster, N.Y. show is up on youtube now.
The genie is definitely out of the bottle, about halfway through the band peaks and its 1987 all over again.
Amazing.
