R.I.P. Dexter Romweber

Madman guitarist of the Flat Duo Jets, brother of the late Sara from Let's Active. Apparently of natural causes at 57 years old.

Way too many people younger than me dying unexpectedly of "natural causes" these days.

So damn sad. A friend of mine in NC has known him for years and says she hung out with him in December before a show. He was seemingly in decent health and generally in good spirits, notwithstanding having recently lost his mom, and having lost ALL THREE of his siblings already.

Only saw him a few times, but he was always a hoot. I had also just recently bought his newest album and it's a lot of fun too. RIP Dex - you will be missed, buddy.

Dammit! This is a knife in the guts. I have seen Dexter Romweber solo, with Flat Duo Jets, and with The Dexter Romweber Duo more times than I can count. He was the Last Rocker; an old soul whose earliest recordings seemed like rare gems from 1952 that somehow were discovered and issued thirty years later. I will never forget seeing him for the first time on IRS's "The Cutting Edge" as a teenager who'd started Flat Duo Jets and who rocked like a BMF from the pre-Elvis era. I was stunned and became a fan for life.
