We've Turned Into Our Parents...

...or perhaps grandparents? This is apparently not a parody, but a real upcoming concert:

"In celebration of the long awaited "DANZIG SINGS ELVIS" album GLENN DANZIG will be performing his favorite Elvis Presley song in an intimate seated live concert accompanied by night club style band at the historic Grand Ballroom in the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel...ONLY 400 general admission seats available."

A "night club style band"! In a tux, one hopes? Never been a Dan-fan, but (if it was free) I'd see this.

Also, is this a typo: "will be performing his favorite Elvis Presley song.." Just one song? I wonder which one?

I’ve just never been a concert guy, so sometimes the appeal of stuff like this is lost on me.

Who goes to see this? Danzig fans want to hear the guy ROCK OUT to Danzig/Samhain/Misfits… not this. No?

Elvis fans are saying ‘Danzig who??’

Is it $10 a ticket, or $100? That makes a difference (well, for me it would)(who am I kidding, I’m lazy and I wouldn’t go)

On second thought, maybe I’m wrong. People pay big bucks to hear Rod Stewart belt out big band hits rather than his ‘rock’ classics…. I suppose this is no different. If you love the man and his voice, this might be right up your alley.

He's been threatening to do this ever since he got positive response to his cover of Presley's "Trouble" on the EP Thrall/Demonsweat Live. That album's been in the works for years at this point. I guess the recent Misfits reunion shows have given him enough of a cushion that he can launch something that's so obviously both a labor of love and a potential financial and popular failure.

EDIT: Oh, pardon me, the record's been out for over a year. Didn't exactly set the world on fire.

"Is it $10 a ticket, or $100?" Keep going up: the website sez "From $186.45." FROM $186, so who knows high up it goes from there. That's a hunka hunka chunk of change.
