BANDS you would have LOVED TO SEEN LIVE and NEVER EVER will be able to....TOP 3
August 10, 2004 05:30AM
I know, THE BEATLES, of course........well, they DID NOT MAKE MY TOP THREE......there are sooooooo many bands that I did not get to experience LIVE because of my age, location, rock and roll history......but if this were a FANTASY that would come true........MY TOP THREE WOULD BE:
1. THE WHO with KEITH MOON ( I saw them in '82---good, but not the originals)
2. THE CLASH ----still a bummer about MICK...I bet there could have been a reunion?????
3. QUEEN ---- bummer that THE USA did not embrace them enough other than what was played on 70's Radio stations/early 80's....not many tours in the USA in my time......a voice that could NEVER be replaced??? HEY WAIT A MINUTE, what about the guy from THE DARKNESS???? NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!

My dad saw Paganini - way overrated.

The Who circa 1970 would have been nice.

Bob Dylan and The Hawks circa 1965 would be nicer.
Dear Senor Pimpster:

Saw the who's next tour--we were driven to Clevo's Allen Theater by friend's mom!!--but what really matters is that i indeed forgot the Dylan ref, because I was torn between basement tape eyewitness aspect--free booze!--or 66 Manchester concert and those carnaby street babes.

Judas!

(Saw the born-again tour--ugh)

Judas!

Hmmm...the White Riot tour...the lineup was infamous but only after the fact. Seems like people who were there didn't think they were good shows aside fom the short cultural relevance (though that counts cuz with all live experiences, u 'had to be there'). That's one strange thing about this wish list - so many bands that seem good now were not good live at the time while the opposite is also true (the G. Dead were tortuous on album). Some say the Stones actually weren't great live 'til the 81 tour. BUT...I never got to see Zeppelin, or Jimi.

My brother took me to more concerts when I was a kid than I can recall; "babysitting" at home was not his thing on the night of a really good concert, and Oklahoma liquor-by-the-drink laws were really flexible, so I actually saw a lot of great ones/rare ones when I as a kid. So...

Zappa on the Broadway the Hard Way Tour (art, music, politics and underwear)
Dylan and the Band circa Before the Flood
Otis Redding, anytime, any venue.
