I discovered him a little over a year ago - too late, it seems. His Fat Possum album I Just Want to Be Held is terrific - a perfect combination of James Brown and delta blues.

I saw that right after I posted about Mayer. Levi Stubbs, Yma Sumac, Black, Mayer...the Grim Reaper is taking a heavy toll these days.

Yeah, RIP, Jimmy Carl Black. Watched 200 Motels the other night and continued to laugh my ass off at "Lonesome Cowboy Burt". I liked his comment about working with Zappa in the 80's: "It was great. I even got paid!" I have the Geronimo Black album, and it's not bad.
