TP 98 IN BROOKLYN - JULY 16
June 04, 2005 05:56PM
Trouser Press (Issue 98) -- a DJ stint by yours truly and Steve Reynolds -- is on tap for Magnetic Field on Atlantic Avenue Saturday July 16th. (A fine way to follow the Siren Festival in Coney Island if you're headed that way...) Details to follow. Or check the listings on the club's website - www.magneticbrooklyn.com

Something IS happening isn't it?
Welp, that completes my itinery for that particular weekend. First stop, THE MAGNETIC FIELD then back to Florida on the 19th for THE BRAVERY @ STATE THEATRE in ST. PETERSBURG. It's official, summer is here, AWWRIGHT!

I would love to be at that--the pathetic irony (in light of recent TP board discussions) is that I'll be reviewing a Bruce Springsteen concert.

I hate myself.

Much as I would love to be at the TP event this Saturday, I will be seeing Mission of Burma in concert. I'm stoked, baby! (Don't mean to rub it in, Erik.)

Has anyone else here seen MoB since they regrouped?

I did see MoB last year and they were amazing. You're in for a treat - especially their special version of "Born To Run."

If Mission of Burma does a cover of "Born to Run" when I see them, I will treat both Rhett and Erik to an espresso.

Actually, I saw Frankie Goes To Hollywood play a cover of "Born to Run." You should have seen the teenagers in the audience getting into it. I still wonder how many of them thought they were hearing a Frankie original. One of the funniest things I've ever seen at a concert.

Hey, there's an idea for a thread. Coming up ...

How will you manage to stay awake at that Springsteen concert, erickalbany?

Good point! Better get a double cappuccino early in the lobby, Erik, before all the yups at the show clean 'em out.

I'm with you, Delvin. There won't even be the all-peaks-no-valleys cacophany of the E Street Band to keep me awake--it's his "solo acoustic" tour.

I'll take an extra shot of espresso in mine.
