This odd album by rock writer-turned-musician Jon Tiven’s band has some really good songs (mostly originals written or co-written by Tiven), guest appearances by Voidoid Ivan Julian, Alex Chilton and Hilly Michaels, and a musical range that covers MOR, power pop, Leon Russellish pseudo-gospel, devolved R&B, off-the-wall Spectorized production and more. High ‘n’ Inside is unpredictable and uneven, but well worth a listen or three.
