Disregarding their stupid name, this British foursome’s EP is a bit scratchy and just barely in step. But when the inchoate instrumental expression threatens to unravel, the steadfast, determined (double-tracked) vocals of John Novak pull it together, and push it along. The playing’s scruffy, but cut through the rough edging to the heart of it and you’ll find lean but proud melodies fighting to escape.
