Wet Picnic

  • Wet Picnic
  • Balls Up EP (Unicorn) 1982

Formed in Los Angeles by two expatriate veterans of the Argentine rock scene, Wet Picnic is augmented by a bassist, drummer and a backup singer on its five-song EP. Musically, Balls Up (the title is a soccer reference) is energetic, nearly mainstream early ’80s rock; despite hints of nonconformity dropped by incidental synthesizer and intriguing rhythms, commercial radio — had it been aware of Wet Picnic — would have had a bigger problem with the name than the music.
