Purple Hearts

  • Purple Hearts
  • Beat That! (UK Fiction) 1980
  • Pop-ish Frenzy (UK Razor) 1986

While the debut LP shows them to be too derivative to be taken seriously, Purple Hearts were still one of the most sincere (or at least convincing) neo-mod bands. At points they closely approximate ’65/’66 Who and Stones (and even endow a ’66 Bowie single with more credibility than the original). Almost analogous to early Badfinger.
