Produced by fellow Scot Midge Ure, Modern Man is much like a second-string Rich Kids. The vocals are like Ure’s but a tad stiffer, the plangent guitars can also snarl — even the melodies are similar. Withal, not too poor, for a side, but on the flip the quintet’s catchiness, brevity and solid (if borrowed) musical identity seems to evaporate.
