This Chicago quintet is both versatile and technically competent, if not overwhelming original, on Deviations‘ 11 well-produced tracks. Nothing too stylish or exciting, just adequate melodic rock of no particular character but with intelligent lyrics.
The two songs on the A-side of No Ordinary Moon (a three-song 12-inch) are a bit stronger and more focused; a 1984 single, “All the Way” b/w “Love Turns to Stone” (according to the label, from the album Red Fish Are Flying), is better still, loudly blending a synthetic drum beat into the mix.
