I'll have to try to catch Mute Math on Letterman tonite - apparently they're pretty monstrous live but I've not had a chance to catch them on tour anywhere.

Yeah, I thought Mute Math were pretty interesting, although I don't know if they'll succeed in making the keytar cool again (if it ever was), especially since the guy playing it looks so much like Screech.

I checked to see when its playing again....................couldn't find anything

GBQ on Henry Rollins this week.

I have to step in here and say that that documentary is one of the most self-aggrandizing, self-conscious films about a band of, let's face it, little import that is nonetheless interesting. The gloating and "we're different" superiority is frankly hard to take.

BUT props to my newspaper colleague David Greenerger (he wrote some for the TP Guide as well) for his appearance. Jeff Feuerzeig did a marginally better job on the Daniel Johnston thing, but I consider him a very manipulative film-maker with a sort of "indie/nonmainstream/against-the-grain" superiority complex. Frankly, he rubs me the wrong way.

I honestly think a lot of the content in that doc is tongue in cheek... like how Byron Coley (I think) was adamant that Charmed Life is far superior to Exile on Main St. or Sgt. Peppers. If he was 100% serious, he's way gone. I think he was just trying to be a shit, wink-wink style.

I saw it and immediately thought of how Jad Fair provided the blueprint for the Dana Carvey character 'Wayne' .
