Rikki and the Last Days of Earth made a couple of 45s and one roundly ignored album; Sylvan's subsequent solo venture doesn't do much to improve his credibility. Vocals that fall between Gary Numan and David Sylvian, predictable technocratic songs ("I Am a Video," "Into the Void") and arty but generally bland rock with occasionally prominent synthesizer make The Silent Hours a derivative, dull exercise.
