On Zimmerkampf (“room fight” ???), this Canadian quartet plays slick, wide-scren synthesizer dance rock. The combination of strong singer Madeleine Morris (who sounds like Annie Haslam of Renaissance), diverse guitar styles and guest violin yields a lush, pulsing fabric of attractive (if unchallenging) sound. Despite arty lyrical and vocal pretensions, the music is thoroughly likable, thanks to the group’s strong grip on song structure and slow-moving melodies.
