Middle Class

  • Homeland (Pulse) 1982

Arty California folk-rock co-produced by Paul Cutler. Homeland‘s unpleasant starkness derives mainly from Jeff Atta’s colorless (and tuneless) declamatory vocals, but also from the jagged, interwoven guitars that fill the songs and Matt Simon’s (later the Pontiac Brothers’ singer) drumming, which hurries things along like a waiter in a snooty restaurant.
