Formed by ex-Stone Roses guitarist Andy Couzens and drummer Chris Goodwin (both ex-Flag of Convenience), this Manchester-area quartet plays effortlessly appealing modern atmos-pop (y’know — ringing guitars, acoustic piano, breathy vocals and a little bit of cello when it fits the mood) of no great consequence. Signed after one gig, the High don’t do anything wrong on their relaxed and pleasant album, but that’s about the strongest praise they deserve.
