Articulate lyrics and strong mainstream rock make this English trio’s album a big improvement over their Thomas Dolby-produced introductory 12-inch, which consisted of three versions — 25 minutes’ worth! — of one terrible song, thankfully not reprised here. I Hear I See I Learn is a little short on personality — despite slick production, the songs are essentially banged out with little fanfare — but has a good overall sound and singer/guitarist Ian Martin’s provocative lyrics to recommend it.
