I went and saw Morrissey at the Boston Opera House on Saturday with my lady. It was her birthday and what she wanted to do to...um...celebrate. She was worried for weeks that Morrissey would cancel the tour like he usually does, before it reached Boston, and would ruin her birthday. (I personally have had Morrissey stop a show after 3 songs because of a tickle in his throat.) It didn't loby nosepail
The rooftop shot of Let It Be is my favorite album cover all time. I have the record framed and look at it often. Post Edited (06-12-14 11:56)by nosepail
New Cloud Nothings record.....meh . First one had more memorable songs in my opinion.by nosepail
Tom, Thanks for the review, even if it sounds like a disappointing album. Man, these come so rapid fire I didn't even know there was one coming out this week and I generally pay attention! So disappointed they are not coming to Boston on their current tour.... Noseby nosepail

@Breno Why do you find this woman annoying? I simply have no idea!by nosepail
That Magnolia soundtrack is weird. I love love the first couple Aimee Mann songs, especially Build That Wall, but find it unbelievably jarring when it switches to Supertramp songs about half way through.by nosepail
QuoteSo which is worse? Being Joe Walsh. Whichever that one is. What a dufus he is.by nosepail
It's their best song. Sorry - I stick to that.by nosepail
Rufus Wainwright is a drab opener? Hmmm... I love me some Rufus. Never seen him live but cant imagine what was so bad about him. Care to share some impressions?by nosepail
Delvin, I would imagine there's a good chance the store will be gone! Buy it!by nosepail
Thanks Delvin. But I hope your well wishes do not kick off a flurry of song lists pertaining to coffee cake.by nosepail
Would you really want the woman who sings Peach, Plum, Pear telling you to bring out the recycling with that voice? Beware of beautiful pixies.by nosepail
Good choice of Husker songs, Delvin. Eiffel Tower High is a great forgotten track.by nosepail
I have never heard a Kiss song that had anything even resembling an interesting musical hook. When I was a young guitar slinger, I used to treasure the 4 Wolf Marshall transcribed tablatures that would arrive in my guitar magazine each month. When one was a Kiss song, it was always a serious disappointment, since it would be literally nothing more than 2 notes. Post Edited (03-28-14 14:58)by nosepail

I never heard the band Impaled but wiki gives them the following educational credentials: * Dr. Sean "Bloodbath" McGrath – M.D. (Medical Deviant) * Dr. Jason Kocol – E.M.T. (Emergency Metal Technician) * Dr. Raul Varela – Ph.D. (Doctor of Philandering) * Dr. "Monsewer" Ross Sewage – R.N. (Registered Nut)by nosepail

This is a different topic but is Sun Kil Moon's Salvador Sanchez, from their first album, the greatest song ever about a boxer? Simon and Garfunkel of course had a good one, but it was a little abstract. Listen to this track and keep this image in mind: Pure genius in my opinion. Post Edited (03-24-14 10:32)by nosepail
Anyone taking odds? Will we ever see an XTC reunion tour?by nosepail
I think "True" is a great song. Soft rock classic IMHO.by nosepail
This album is a masterpiece, pure and simple. Haven't heard anything with this depth since perhaps Kendrick Lamar's Mad City record a couple years ago (totally different genre of course). The detail in the lyrics is breathtaking. How he reveals all these astonishing scenes and people and places (from his life?) without it becoming overwrought or sentimental or goopy is an incredibleby nosepail
One song into the new Sun Kill Moon album which just arrived from amazon. Without a doubt, this is the most viscerally sad and mournful song ever recorded. It's about a woman who burns to death and the confused reaction of her family. Have listened to it three times and feel like I personally went through a horrific trauma. Not for the faint of heart.by nosepail
Watch Arcade Fire Bring Out Fake Rob Ford, Cover Constantines' "Young Lions" in Toronto Hate Arcade Fire. No interest in the scandals of Rob Ford. But love me some Constantines!. So had to click. What a great forgotten band. Post Edited (03-14-14 20:07)by nosepail

Lots of good sources... As a kid, I took all Rolling Stone "best albums of all time" lists very seriously though I never read the magazine regularly. The issue they published around 1986 (I was 12) or so introduced me to Velvet Underground, Exile On Main St, Talking Heads, Al Green, Ziggy Stardust, Sex Pistols, Captain Beefheart etc. Think I ultimately bought 85 or so of the 100 alby nosepail
