I love them. Saw them live in New York last month and they blew me away. They rock much harder live then on album. The singer is an exciting lyricist, in my opinion (I would say he speaks to me also) even if his Johnathan Richman mumble gets a little rough sometimes. Teens of Denial is a wonderful record which grows and unfolds with each listen. Each song has character. Drunk Driving, Cosmiby nosepail
Show was pretty great! Life affirming but only middling in the execution. The crowd and excitement were through-the-roof electric. As usual, the singer Brian was an over-sharer, sometimes talking for about 3-4 minutes before launching into the damn song. The first song "Adrenaline Nightshift" was announced as "a warmup song" which is pretty amazing considering its one ofby nosepail
Man, their brazen douchiness is shocking. Apparently, knows no limits.by nosepail
IMHO, almost all of these dip well below the water-line which should be considered for rock and roll hall of fame enshrinement. However, I was just in the basketball hall of fame last weekend and there were a lot of salami's in there also. So maybe it's me. I think it's safe to say, there should be an emphatic NO for: * Chaka Khan * ELO * Jane's addiction * Janet Jacksonby nosepail
I'm calling "Bullshit" on y'all. I live as closeted from mass pop culture as it is possible to be - e.g. Have never seen a single episode of any popular tv show Mad Men, Sopranos, Game of Thrones, etc, etc - and I feel I have been surrounded by Adele's music for the last 5 years. Is is omnipresent and unavoidable. By the way, I think she doesnt suck. Though yes, tby nosepail

+1 for "Pop Songs Your New Boyfriend's Too Stupid To Know About - Tullycraft". My personal favorite "twee" song of all time. That song is useful because it references numerous other classic twee bands.by nosepail

Very very sad. Those two albums were my favorites for years. We never got the third. Post Edited (03-27-16 18:41)by nosepail

Gang, On the heels of the GBV breakup on Thursday, I went to my usual hometown record store - in fact, the last record store in my hometown, or indeed the geographic area - looking to buy some music to cheer myself up, and found it shuttered. I think I have simply lost interest in following music any longer. Every thing I love and have loved my whole life is simply disappearing very rapidly.by nosepail
I cant laugh about this. Very sad in my opinion. Their reunion run was a good one. I guess I was taking it for granted they would just keep going. I didn't even post here when I saw them in Boston. Too bad.by nosepail
Man, this is great news! However, The Church is simply not the Church without MWP. 25th album? Cannot be. They must be double counting a bit here. Further/Deeper is a terrible album name reminiscent of Sometime Anywhere. I like the song but it is a little on the ponderous side. Chorus missing a hook.by nosepail
It's U2. It's Rolling Stone. Dude, what else would the rating be?by nosepail
I never owned an iPod, but it seems my (our?) love of collecting music in any form - CD, MP3, etc - has no place in the modern world. We all just need to subscribe some streaming services from the cloud. I hate it.by nosepail
He actually choked on someone else's Ronnie James Dio statue. The authorities said it was better left...unsolved.by nosepail
I am glad this was all a big misunderstanding.by nosepail
Man, Idlewild was really really good for a few years there. And then, as the article says, got very bland very fast. I think the singer didn't really like rocking out, because he always seemed a little uncomfortable live, and first chance he could he put out a bland folksy solo album.by nosepail

I enjoyed that. Thank you, Hoip.by nosepail
Saw them in Boston on Thursday and I agree with everything that has been said above. Good, not great, show. Ian's demeanor a little cold, his voice a little rough sometimes, and totally impossible to understand his patter. Here's a relevant article on the topic: I also could do without the 2 Doors covers (!) and the medley involving Walk On The Wild Side. Guitarist sounded aby nosepail
Not cute enough to put up with that kind of pretentious pondering. Pass. Post Edited (08-17-14 07:53)by nosepail
Sorry, I know this is lame answer, but the new Weird Al gave me and my son a lot of goofy smiles listening to it on a long car ride. It's thus far given me more pleasure than, say, the new Bob Mould.by nosepail
Paganizer, Totally agree on Wussy. They've been my (second) favorite band for a new years, and Attica! is very strong. Don't hear the Besnard Lakes influence though. Can you clarify? Noseby nosepail
That middle section is not too bad. I like me some Waterloo Sunset. Even Human Nature.by nosepail
I think we need clarification of "one chord song". Not all songs are chord based. Many are riff based and rooted in a single key which does not change. For example, I would say every Rage Against The Machine song is like that. I think the rarer and more remarkable achievement is having a chord based song where they literally hammer away at a single chord with no riffing, and stillby nosepail
