I missed this Bowie item at the time and hope you'll all think it was worth posting. Bowie's lyrical coda seems especially poignant given the nauseating political climate here in the States: Love’s such an old-fashioned word and love dares you to care for the people on the edge of the night And love dares you to change our way Of caring about ourselves This is our last dance This isby HollowbodyKay
QuoteYeah, it's cool seeing "Fly" on there. I've seen them a few times, but they never played that one. QuoteI've seen them a few times too, but I don't think I've ever heard them play "Fly" <<<ahem>>> I saw 'em play "Fly" at The Ritz in New York City on June 9th 1988. I was 18.by HollowbodyKay

QuoteMy main issue with this list, and my main issue with Pitchfork in general, is its insistence on adopting the voice of the authority on everything, to the point where its writing staff, most of whom were born after 1980, like to posture that they're relaying first hand accounts of contemporary reactions to albums. I basically feel the same way about any review of classical music that waby HollowbodyKay
QuoteReplacement "Androgynous" I beg to differ. "Nightclub Jitters" would be the perfect 'Mats tune for Bennett. Addendum: Looks like mats84 beat me to the punch on this one. QuoteVU "Pale Blue Eyes", "Afterhours" "After Hours" would be good ... but I prefer to imagine "Sunday Morning" recast in a jazz arrangement. QuoteUltby HollowbodyKay
Cannot decide which is more appropriate: A yawn ... or an epic round of post-80's-hangover projectile vomiting. I saw that that the eclipse folks had evidently exhumed the old bat to do a medley of her hit. Nice to know that she won't be <<<ahem>>> "relevant" again until 2024.by HollowbodyKay
QuoteI ran into my childhood friend recently and he still listens and goes to KISS shows, probably still in the Army! Does past membership in the KISS Army carry any veteran benefits? Do you have to have done a certain number of tours? Or is one enough?by HollowbodyKay

QuoteThis is gonna be awesome. I hear he's gonna pick good ole boy Ted Nugent for VP. Naw. Nugent and Rock are Career Musicians. There's an unrecorded homeless lunatic living in a cardboard box behind the local Walmart who's usually banging away on a coffee can. It's almost musical. He's a real straight shooter and isn't afraid to speak his mind. We justby HollowbodyKay
Time is cruel. All the recent audio/video evidence I've heard/seen leads me to conclude that Ian McCulloch's once-lovely voice has been reduced to a hoarse croak. In addition to not wanting to witness that sad reality in person, there are two other factors that will prevent me from conjuring up any enthusiasm for seeing an Echo & The Bunnymen show any time in *this* life: 1.)
