Murmur is such a fantastic album. For some reason, I never bought the Violent Femmes disc, though I always respected them. I do own the 1993 Add It Up compilation. 1983 also marks the fortieth anniversary of The Trouser Press Guide to New Wave Records. This falls more into the Imaginary Albums category, but I remember dreaming, sometime in the early Nineties, that I was shopping for vinyl records at a by-then-long-gone Record Bar I frequented as a teen. In this dream, I was still a teenager and there were no compact discs. To my utter astonishment, I came across a trio of lost Gary Numan Beggars Banquet albums issued in the time between Gazzaby Middle C
I'd love to see an official release of Japan's original version of "Some Kind of Fool," which was intended for the band's Gentlemen Take Polaroids album. A dissatisfied David Sylvian replaced the track with "Burning Bridges" (an excellent composition, by the way), finally releasing "Fool" (with then-new vocals) on his 2000 compilation Everything and Nby Middle C

Alas, I've never seen Toomorrow, though I notice it's available on YouTube. It sounds like a real hoot. I'm an admirer of the picture's director, Val Guest, who helmed some of Hammer's classic films (including The Quatermass Xperiment and Hell Is a City), as well as the fantastic The Day the Earth Caught Fire. Toomorrow, incidentally, was co-produced by the renowned Paby Middle C

I know it's terribly uncool, but I was a big fan of Grease when it was released in 1978--it was the first musical I saw theatrically--and I had the soundtrack album. I also got a kick out of Xanadu, though I did not own that particular soundtrack. I also liked her song "A Little More Love." RIP!by Middle C

This is a fantastic topic! Purple Rain won Best Original Song Score (1984). As for Best Original Score, TP artists Ryuichi Sakamoto and David Byrne (along with non-TP composer Cong Su) won for The Last Emperor (1987). Two other artists whose work, I would argue, extends (or at least should extend) into the TP universe, also won Best Original Score during the 70's/80's time periodby Middle C
