someone wrote on Genius.com (for whatever that's worth) "Naked Truth was an American band, but they relocated to the UK, so they get included in the list of “stupid Europeans”.by MrFab
Every time I hear Arcade Fire on the radio, I think: Echo & The Bunnymen are apparently still recording, and boy, have they lost it. If others like 'em, fine, whatever, but the TP review "Neon Bible ranks among the best indie rock recordings of all time" is really a bit much. And I'm not even that big an Echo & The Bunnymen fan!by MrFab
No, we're not betting on anything, just asking which TP reviews over- or under-rated an artist/album? Bip pointed out the REM review in the Dec '82 edition...which states that the best band outta Athens are The Method Actors! Yes, the review mentions, apart from REM, the B52s and Pylon. Honestly, I haven't heard (or thought of) that band in ages. I def remember liking what I heaby MrFab
I've been dipping into TP reviews for my most recent radio shows. Apart from artists I learned about from reading TP reviews in the past, last couple weeks I've been dropping into "Reviews" on this here site, finding interesting things, and getting albums. I, and my listeners, thank you, citizens of TP-land.by MrFab
It’s kind of weird to think that, at one point, Brian Eno was being produced by someone else! But I’m so glad Sinfield did those early Roxy Music albums right. I have returned to them many times over the decades. He designed their light show? OK, so that’s why he was credited with lyrics and “illumination.“ I always assumed it was just some hippie mysticism. But they meant actual illumination!by MrFab

Never mind breno, I've answered my own question by reading this:by MrFab
I'm curious Brad, do you have any info to back up your claims, or is it just sort of a feeling you have? You've written here before that Doug Yule was simply a stooge of Sesnick, and not the villain that history (and Lou Reed) has made him out to be. So if what you say is true, then Yule should be inducted into the RRHoF with the other orig. Velvets. After all, his voice is all over atby MrFab
Cleveland legend Jamie Klimek: The Styrenes, The Mirrors, the electric eels. Yep, that's him on the classic "Drano In Your Veins" (a version of which appeared on a Trouser Press comp). The man was punk before punk. Heck, he was post-punk before punk. After a long illness. Can't find anything on-line, Just heard from a WFMU DJ who was pals with him for years.by MrFab
Currently one hour into a 5-hour epic, feat. TP artists a-plenty: Oh, and thanks for the tip on Split Lip Rayfield! Def fun stuff.by MrFab

Ouch. Mr Toland has been an invaluable voice of the fertile Austin TX scene, and also seems like a very cool dude. I actually have a couple friends who also became widowers at a young age. It was horrible, but they did get through it. I really feel for you, brother.by MrFab
Nothing against the hugely talented and influential Mr. Albini, whose music I have dug mightily over the years, but the idea that "anyone who collects royalties on a record that they didn't help write, or sing on, or play an instrument on, is a thief" is a buncha hooey. That's like saying a director has no stake in a movie since he isn't one of the writers, actors, etc. Yby MrFab
Ok, well not on live anymore, but the archives will be set up in a few.by MrFab
Drop into the chat with the other cool ghouls, as we dig psycho-billy, -country, -whathaveyou. Feat. TP bands aplenty!by MrFab
How’s about $76-$116 to see something called “Oingo Boingo Former Members”? And this isn’t in a big city, this is out in a desert Indian casino. (And by the way - For all that money, I would expect at least an actual band name. Really, they couldn’t come up with a better name than “Oingo Boingo Former Members”?! Good luck fitting that on a t-shirt.)by MrFab
Very good, but care to explain to a pinhead like me the Johnny Cash ones?by MrFab
Nice to see the MC5 get a lotta love at tonight's Rock n Rock Hall of Fame Awards. Of course, they're all DEAD, haha. But Tom Morella (wearing a t-shirt that said "Jail Guitar Doors") gave a fine speech. No sign of Patti Smith for some reason - she is not only a Hall inductee, but was actually married to a MC5 member. Nice, fairly lengthy video with plenty of archival footage.by MrFab
steevee, no, this collection started as a post on ye olde blog. Which got to be a bit of a nuisance after a while – the MP3s would “fall off” and readers would request that I re-up them. Over and over. One reason why I decided to move my operations over to radio. Oh, she was a total poser, breno! Yep, I did indeed find this album in a bargain bin. And I bought it for precisely that reason, theby MrFab
For you fans of the wacky side of the late 70s/early 80s punk wave - you know, the stuff inspired by Devo, the Residents, Zappa, etc. I put up a compilation ripped from my vinyl obscurities, as well as some unreleased demos: “ Herky-jerky rhythms! Synth squiggles! Sarcasm! Featuring out-of-print (or never-in-print) classics from The Screamers, Oingo Boingo, Robert Williams (Capt Beefheart,by MrFab
Great to hear from you, Monk, and glad you and yours survived relatively unscathed. I also just heard from someone from Asheville, a regular listener to my station, who just posted something in the chat for the first time in a couple weeks. he posted pictures that he’d taken recently showing what a mess the town is in right now. I was telling him how I’d always wanted to visit the Moog Museum., Bby MrFab
Monk wrote on his blog recently that everything's a mess, and no internet/phone, but they're ok. They can't complain, compared to what others went thru. And he adds: "we are sad to see that the two tickets we’d bought to two different showings of the Eno generative documentary scheduled for this week cannot happen as the arts cinema we’d booked was in the River Arts Districby MrFab

Boy, am I out of the loop. Apparently Dan J is a go-to guy for Hollywood song selectors, according to his IMDb page. “True love will find you in the end“ alone has been used 15 times! Hey, it’s the new “hallelujah.“by MrFab
Damn, you ain’t kiddin’, zoo! Half of the films’ budget must’ve gone towards song licensing: And, like the “joker 2” soundtrack, “Cruella” also features an actor covering an alternative classic, in this case an actor from the film performs “now I wanna be your dog.” Oh, I get it. 101 Dalmatians? Now I wanna be your dog? They’re so clever!by MrFab
… what would he think about Joaquin Phoenix covering his song “true love Will find you in the end,” in what is the apparently roundly-despised new “Joker” sequel? Critics say that this new “Joker“ movie features all manner of unnecessary musical interludes, in which Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix croon standards mostly associated with the Rat Pack era like “I’ve got the world on a string,“ andby MrFab
You know what, Aitch - that’s pretty brilliant. I might have to steal that.by MrFab
It depends on the country, and at what point in their career: -According to the TP review, apparently Simple Minds played stadiums in Europe. Don’t know if that’s still true, but I doubt it.. -The Ramones played stadiums: At the end of their career. In South America. (Don’t think they ever rose above mid-level venues in the US) -here in LA, Depeche Mode headlined stadium shows, the Cureby MrFab
