…And it's excellent! Awesome taste in covers and the few originals ain't hay! Besides, Jones produced Hunter's divisive 1981 opus "Short Back 'N Sides," which TP sent out to random subscribers in a WLP for readers to "listen without prejudice." So the whole Hunter/Foley/Jones thread was actually coherent if you line it up just right.by Post-Punk Monk
Carmen was Power Pop royalty but with a penchant to wimp out on ballads solo-wise. Not so much on "Make Me Lose Control," which I thought was a late-in-the-game sign of life! Not fit to shine the shoes of "Go All The Way," of course, but it was the quintessence of good radio pop for its time period! Every household needs at least a Raspberries comopilation, and I have two, ifby Post-Punk Monk
As a MacKenzie cultist, "Vogue Estate" was a must have! And it's got a track to help make a 5 cut EP of Martha Ladly solo goodness as well with her other two singles.by Post-Punk Monk
It's funny. I loved Stephen Emmer's "International Blue" album in 2015. It's an album trafficking in a variety of baritone singers aiming for a Scott Walker, late 60s arty/MOR vibe. I bought it for the participation of vocalists like Glenn Gregory and Midge Ure. One of the new to me singers on it was Neil Crossley of the band Furlined," whom I'd never heard of.by Post-Punk Monk

Love those Chameleons! A punishing regimen for certain, but sadly a Chameleons Desert in the Southeast.by Post-Punk Monk
How could I not?! Wish I could be there! At least I saw Holsapple + Stamey once in town with Annene Kaye. TP is the best and I look forward to ordering a copies of the book for myself and prezzies this year.by Post-Punk Monk
Interesting. Alas, when they will be at The Orange Peel, a local club, I will be in Europe. Maybe next time.by Post-Punk Monk
Going to the last OMD tour in Atlanta [2018] my wife said up front, this is the last time I'll want to see OMD, but after the show she remembered why she goes in the first place. The band is like the component parts of her husband's psyche distilled into band form. Plus Andy gives 110%. OMD is one of my four fave bands and they are still active but I think I'll pass this time. Neaby Post-Punk Monk
Dammit! This is a knife in the guts. I have seen Dexter Romweber solo, with Flat Duo Jets, and with The Dexter Romweber Duo more times than I can count. He was the Last Rocker; an old soul whose earliest recordings seemed like rare gems from 1952 that somehow were discovered and issued thirty years later. I will never forget seeing him for the first time on IRS's "The Cutting Edge"by Post-Punk Monk
Had Mojo not existed it might have been necessary to have created him. But I think that Mojos are born, not made. I never got to see Mojo Nixon play, but I never saw Dash Rip Rock without them playing his "All Liquored Up." His MTV bumpers were a pretty metatextual thing. MTV trying to ironically co-opt anti-MTV sentiment. "The dude was way too young to go," says the 60 year oby Post-Punk Monk

Terrible news! Soft Moon was excellent! The song he wrote and recorded with John Foxx + The Maths ["Evidence"] was my favorite Foxx song of the 21st century! I got to see them once in town at the best club that the pandemic sadly ended.by Post-Punk Monk

Geez, if they could make a compelling series out of a piece of low-rent dreck like Gorgeous Ladies Of Wrestling, imagine what they could do with Trouser Press? And I love that illo with the Klark Kent EP. Iby Post-Punk Monk
Tour is promoting Annabella . Also, I'm impressed that the tour website has all current pix of bands playing. Nothing sadder that 40 year old promo shots being used.by Post-Punk Monk
So yeah, it looks easy to snag $54 + fees tickets. No gouging. Will be going to Raleigh with 1-2 friends but the spouse has opted out.by Post-Punk Monk
Red Hat in Raleigh is the only southeast date! I've seen OMD and Khraungbin/Lee Fields.Big Daddy Kane there and it's decent. When I got the mail from the Dolby mailing list the other day, I looked at it, and by gar, I felt like it would be a fun show to see. I didn't dislike any of the acts, rare for an "80s package tour." I've only seen Dolby before but I walked outby Post-Punk Monk
Well, If you gotta have one "Hardcore" album, that's the one to have. It's the only one in my Record Cell.by Post-Punk Monk

This, in a nutshell! In fact, let's go out on a limb and say that lyrics are the sole reason why we love Stan Ridgeway!by Post-Punk Monk
I usually don't pay much attention to lyrics since they are usually the worst part of a song, and being obsessed with music, I'd suffer a lot of cognitive dissonance! But…egregiously poor lyrics can easily be a deal-breaker for me. Conversely, when I actually hear great lyrics in a rare instance, that usually makes the music singular in my mind and really stand out against the crowd. OMby Post-Punk Monk
I resisted The Pogues for as long as I could. I typically break out in hives when presented with Irish Folk music, but even I had to capitulate when "If Should I Fall From Grace With God" happened. Glad I did, too. What a collection of songs! Seeing a song as spiritedly scabrous as "Fairytale Of New York" become a christmas classic has been a delicious, least likely underdog tby Post-Punk Monk
I can't imagine them continuing, but these days every band does no matter what I think when they lose a crucial member. But I'd prefer them not to and have Jaz go solo, which would be valid. I only saw Killing Joke once, but it was highly memorable . It was after "Outside The Gate" was released in 1989, and I was anticipating a set based on that. What we got instead was the noby Post-Punk Monk
That's some sad news. Williams was a fantastic sax player with a road map all over the musical spectrum. I was truly wowed by him the last time I saw The Psychedelic Furs…over a decade ago. I will miss the gentleman, but at least the last Psychedelic Furs album got in the can while he was a contributor. I still need to buy a copy.by Post-Punk Monk
Zwirnm - So we share a birthday? That's so cool! Our birthday is also the same as Byran Ferry and John Foxx, as well. Two titans in my Record Cell. But the bittersweet aspect of this day is that exactly 20 years ago, we lost Robert Palmer. I still miss that guy.by Post-Punk Monk
Ugh! We just got back from closing down the Melting Pot Social where I ate the whole pot of white chocolate fondue! Now I need a…bromo. Thanks you guys! You're only 60 once, right? So the more the merrier.by Post-Punk Monk

The band just announced physical copies in 3 formats of their new single. This is the first time that they've had three different formats since their reformation.by Post-Punk Monk
The whole covers plus "updated" Duran songs worked so well on "Thank You," didn't it??!! The best thing I can say about it on the face of it is that at least it isn't a Christmas Album. That they will be revisiting a song that I feel represents their peak ["Secret Oktober"] suggests rough terrain ahead as they can only end up diminishing it. The big questioby Post-Punk Monk
Andy McCluskey has hinted that "Bauhaus Staircase" will be OMD's swan song. I'll believe that when I see it. These musician dudes can't tear themselves away from it. The modern albums have been a move in the right direction with a somewhat shaky start to "History Of Modern" and quick consolidation to the accomplishments of "English Electric" and "by Post-Punk Monk
