this probably won't mean much to people who don't pay attention to underground punk and hardcore but there's a band from Portland, OR called Tragedy and they've done side projects that are better.... such as Criminal Damage, which is '82 style UK street punk (Blitz, No Future Records, etc) and Warcry, which is Discharge-inspired punk no way the Knitters are better than Xby MrAl
she likes "Raw Power" over the Jason Bateman character's dubious musical taste. That's enough for me! nah, seriously, it was definitely on the cutesy side but it was enjoyable. breno wrote:by MrAl
Stains (LA)-s/t (SST Records) NOTA-s/t (great hardcore punk from Oklahoma) Leatherface-Mush (any of their stuff, actually) Necros-Conquest For Death (don't hold your breath--one of the guys will probably never allow that to happen) Suicide Commandos-Make A Record (came out on CD in the 90s but is apparently oop) Flipper-Generic, Sex Bomb Baby (reissued in the 90s on the short-lived Infiby MrAl
this is something that needs to come out on DVD but I'm not holiding my breath. I'm just grateful I have a booted copy.by MrAl
never heard of Michael Lerner.. and if I'm being compared to Patti Smith, go f_uck yourself :-)by MrAl
speaking of old west coast punk bands putting out new albums, the Vancouver band the Subhumans just put out a new album on Alternative Tentacles and it's also very weak-sounding. Maybe two decent songs out of 12...by MrAl

Gang of Four were great when I saw them last year too. did anyone see the Germs tour? I have to admit I was curious but I had other plans that night... Red Sox and then I went to see the Dicks.by MrAl

Mike Douglas had more interesting musical performers than Merv Griffinby MrAl
also, maybe it's on the Mike Douglas thread but they played "Ask The Angels" on his show ca. '77by MrAl
sweet.. I have this whole show on video. I regret I never got to see them. They never played Boston.by MrAl
you're correct about the Jam being on Fridays. So were the Clash I think some of the 'old farts' still do a pretty good job... the Dicks come to mind immediately. I'm pretty excited to see the Avengers next month. But Radio Birdman had no business putting out a new album. Ugh...by MrAl

soundclip? what's the chorus say? Off the top of my head, I could think of "Too Much Junk" by the Alley Cats, because that's from the late 70s and the chorus is the title only...by MrAl
from where I sit, which is being heavily into underground punk and hardcore, there has been a huge resurgence since '00 and some of the bands are taking the basic sound and making it sound fresh again. The best are ones that mix garage, punk, hardcore and rock 'n roll. The other great thing is there are plenty of foreign bands (not the latest UK flavor of the month) who are touring theby MrAl
I have a VHS copy someone made for me. I really wish they'd do a legit rerelease too... I had a feeling it had to do with contractual issues.by MrAl

I'd have to think more about this but I can think of a few that are worse.. Iggy's "Raw Power" remaster for instance. Sounds like crap. And I also like the original mix and sequencing of "LAMF" better.by MrAl
vinyl... I don't mind MP3s for my player but I also want to have the 'real thing' and that's on vinyl. For punk and hardcore (well, DIY stuff, not the crappy Warped stuff), that's still the main medium anyway. A friend of mine who runs a record label/distro says he doesn't sell crap on CD.. it's mostly vinylby MrAl
