Max Ernst would work for Pere Ubu (he painted a famous Ubu Imperator, plus he's a surrealist too)by Philippe
Classes? Didn't you graduate decades ago ? Or are you teaching now?by Philippe
"I appreciate the Trump tribute block!" Although it should have consisted of 34 songs.by Philippe
It's hard to talk about (over-)productivity in contemporary times without mentioning King Gizzard. There have been two distinct years in which they have released five separate records, all of them quite different.by Philippe
Were the empanadas any good, though?by Philippe
Kælan Mikla is the one Icelandic band I follow. They're probably too big to play this type of event these days, but did they in the past?by Philippe
Daryl Dragon was the Captain in Captain and Tennille. I've never heard of Dennis, but I guess he was the new wave guy.by Philippe
Wow!by Philippe
Cassettes served a purpose in the days of the walkman and when cassette players were common in cars. Nowadays, not so much. They still have a lot of cred among underground hardcore bands, however, or at least so it seems according to Bandcamp. I still have my collection from the 80s, but like Fleeingbandit, I hardly ever play them anymore, and anything I really like I've replaced with the eqby Philippe

You could do a full show just with covers of "Heroes".by Philippe
I've been listening via the archives function ever since he started the show ten years ago, and I can say that Delvin continually manages to play stuff that's great and that I've never heard before. I've discovered a number of bands thanks to him. I highly recommend it to anyone who frequents this site.by Philippe
Delvin's show is available through the KSER website (https://www.kser.org/). Go to the archives tab at the top, and "radio replayer" in the pull-down menu. That will bring up a calendar. From there, find the date you're looking for; the show is on Fridays at 8:30 pm. Click on it and it will bring up the playlist as well as a button to listen to the show. Shows are archiveby Philippe
OK, so the band name is the 1990s and the record is called Nude Restaurant. Now it makes more sense. I guess that makes the latter name still unclaimed for a future band.by Philippe
Michael, your reviews of concerts attended are always great, no matter whether I have any previous knowledge of the acts involved. In this case I'd heard of Barbara Manning (or rather of the San Francisco Seals), but not of Codeine.by Philippe
"I'm having a heck of a time narrowing it down" I hear you Ira. Everything was great about Trouser Press ! How can you leave anything out.by Philippe
Funny, I was just thinking about this thread as I heard one just yesterday: King Buffalo: Loam (The Burden of Restlessness)by Philippe
To be honest, I've never thought of Spandau Ballet as being gumbo music.by Philippe
That's exactly the thread I remembered ! I also recall it was a brutal time slot at first (not that I've ever listened to the show live). Here's to many more years of brilliant dee-jaying.by Philippe
Congrats on reaching a big round number. I remember when you posted here letting us know you had finally been given your own show.by Philippe
King Krule is also on my best of 2023 list (although more top 100 than top 10). I haven't heard most of the others, though.by Philippe
Your daughter has very good taste. You taught her well (or maybe she did it all on her own).by Philippe
I saw This Is the Kit open for the National in 2013, and I can't say she/they made much of an impression. I'm usually ready to embrace opening acts, given that most of them were personally selected by the main band for good reasons, but she failed to get me excited in any way (and the National then put on an amazing show, making the opener even more forgettable). However, your review iby Philippe

A quintessential TP artist. RIP.by Philippe
Well, Ms. Sommers did hold up the album on the show, not the cd...by Philippe
I find it interesting that Wire was ostensibly promoting "The Ideal Copy" by playing a song that's not on the album. But then, it's exactly what you would expect from these guys from a place where there weren't any other guys.by Philippe
