QuoteTry the same exercise, only this time with Bob Dylan lyrics. hmmm, having NEVER been a Dylan fan, I'll nominate this tripe: Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a bowl of soup, Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a rolling hoop...by mjm716
Quoteexercising the colon thing? so that's what brought it down? geez, a guy disappears for a few months and the corner bar assplodes. I skipped some winter in the Amazon and then revisited my old Berlin haunts for a spell - enough to convince me to take the crisis off and move back - cost of living's still a fraction of NYC in spite of the all the other Americans who've seemedby mjm716
and I'll raise you one, T.Rex: Born to Boogie - no one doubts MB was stolen from us, but we'll always have this.by mjm716
yeah, one BIG bonus of having stopped smoking 4 months now, is that it's at least 4 months since that happened to me. boy do I have the PBR fairies dancing around my head today...owa. Hard to believe I'm going to be drinking that much again in a few hours - gotta love the holidays.by mjm716
good thing you pulled over first. and glad to know I'm not the only one with anger management issues.by mjm716
Now more than EVER, it's 2008! - a mixtape sampler of some of my favorite gems: I've kept to all new 2008 stuff only, no rehashes, reissues or comps of older tracks here. It's got a lot of genre action going on, but I think it's a smooth journey through them musical lands - lots of musical energy to kick that shitty year to the curb. Get the Fuck Outta My House 2008,by mjm716
This certainly would be on it... and of course this one which potentially has my vote for best song of 2008. ...and now that my college and non-profit radio days are (thus far) behind me and fewer club gigs all the time, I find my mixtape motivation in places like this. Speaking of mixtapes - my 'Best' of 2008 sampler: I've kept to all new 2008 stuff only, no rehashesby mjm716

QuoteDON'T DO DRUGS!!!!! too late; candy-flipping shortly... will rejoin the plot sometime around 8pm tomorrow me guesses... g'nite & happy holidays!by mjm716
AGREED! And seriously, for those of us that are progressive enough to accept them, it's about time that LGBTQ drop the premise that sexuality is inherently political. yawn. ...coming from the perspective of attending a holiday party yesterday whose audience was primarily a gay desi audience - talk about conservative - I can honestly generalize here that their agenda was as narrow as any bby mjm716
I still got beer-o-clock staring down a giant list of to-do's yet...trolling here proves how motivated I am towards them prospects. =Pby mjm716
Here's a stocking stuffer for ya... I came across v.1 + 2 via cassettes ages ago and have never seen nor heard of it since, until the magic of the interwebs, so I don't feel too bad about linking. Around the same time I found some other similar tapes that were even better - the only marking I have on them to trace is "E3" E=Espanol I've always guessed and it's deby mjm716
indeed... this is one of my favorites. Enjoy yr evening Steve; I'm off the bar to see what the kids are up to tonight. cheers! Post Edited (12-16-08 20:37)by mjm716
Quoteeven though i've got less records, I have more time to spend absorbing (watch it) the ones I love I'm definitely feeling that one; connected to the lyrical reminiscence post from earlier - it seems I can only recall songs word-for-word from my first decade or so of collecting and patching a hole from that period still feels more satisfying than most of the brand new stuff I find.by mjm716
A new one (to me), that I thought you'd all appreciate: Robert Pawlikowski, SST family member of Zoogz Rift, went on to be a major 'wrestler' and later manager in the short-lived WWF competitor UWF (Universal Wrestling Federation). Last word has it, that he's now a HS science teacher.by mjm716
huzah! indeed all them Rankin and Bass animations are pure magic. One of my favorites wasn't as holiday specific, but HIGHLY recommended the next time you indulge in a favored substance - Mad Monster Party?by mjm716
QuoteHow come you dont like the little ones? It's not that I don't like them - kids are generally the innocent victims of the f'd up values of their retarded parents, particularly in the US society that encourages and usually requires the rest of us to only try to be as 'smart as a 5th grader'; to that sentiment, Go4's F.M.U.S.A. I do wholeheartedly stand by my preby mjm716
I'm not one for encouraging our national pastime of pandering to prepubescent brats - what about the children?! my ass - if making our shoes is good enough for the rest of the World's children, line US tossers right up next to 'em, is my feeling. But on the musical side, I have to admit enjoying a few of the child specific titles by otherwise adult bands: Duplex!: Ablum (200by mjm716
Interesting, but perfection can also be improved upon - the DFA remix of "Paper Planes" for example - FANTABULOUS. Also "Never Stop" or many titles from Porcupine reach the same heights IMO (Ripeness!). How's about: "Shadow Cabinet" - The Church "Little Brother (Electric)" - Grizzly Bear "Pink Turns to Blue" - Hu-Du "Dig Me Out" -by mjm716
with the cold weather, I'm usually on a rum I-V. Also reminds me I'm due another trip to Mexico - running dangerously low on happy pills. Post Edited (12-05-08 15:26)by mjm716
yawn indeed, but I do have to wonder, as didn't Eno produce them bollocks? Not that I would suspect him of being a big Satriani fan, nor do I think he would knowingly be part of such a rip-off. Now I have to go bleach my hands just to get the taint of this topic off of them...by mjm716
but seriously, nothing would get me out of bed and AWAY from the radio faster than DLR in the morning... in fact he saved me a bunch of hangover call-in sick days. now where your mind was ... I'm not that cheap! maybe Wolfgang Van Halen, but DLR - no way... =P Post Edited (12-05-08 00:18)by mjm716
Good catch - Roth really was an EMT for a while around here. Much worse though was his follow up as a DJ in NYC - I woke-up with the Roth many times and even admired the train wreck at times when he was belittling station management by name on air. But his affinity for terrible gay euro-house was the biggest surprise, and I still shudder to think of it.by mjm716
but I'm guessing the maths part might be optional?by mjm716
As there will be a plethora of best of's forthcoming, I think this one could be one of the most objective - as they track the 2008 songs actually played the most by the most individual people (as opposed to one mental fucker playing the same song all year) - rock journo's subjectivity debased once more. From what I know about LastFM, I'm guessing the average user age is aroundby mjm716
Endless Boogie gave me faith in classic rock again. But I'm really diggin' Earthless who typically offer the epitome of jam bands - one song per side.by mjm716
I'll rehash this one, just 'cause the pic is so great and they also happen to be playin' the recent months (btw, who saw that show?). Mr. Killdozer.by mjm716
Generally CD players don't wear out, rather their lasers go out of alignment, the first signs of which are more skips. If you're a bit handy, you can always just open it up and just try cleaning the lens with an eyeglass cloth and remove any internal dust. If you shelled out a lot for your player, it's worth the $30-50 to get it recalibrated. I did that once about 10 years back aby mjm716
I had previously never heard of Paste, but after looking at the list, I would say, see my "song=chorus chorus chorus" thread.by mjm716
I'm guessing a similar topic was here before, but I didn't find it and once again blame the rum. I just had a huge AH-HA! moment on hearing Lalo Schifrin's Danube Moment, which was clearly stolen by Portishead for Sour Times. This may surpass my previous favorite trip-hop rip-off - Stratus from Billy Cobham. Post Edited (11-21-08 00:49)by mjm716
