Thank you for the support! I was actually able to land on my feet employment-wise. My department at AMG officially went away last month. The announcement was made at the end of last year. I jumped ship in May. This post was mostly to lament the slow death of allmusic and to see what people think of AMG these days. My usage dropped after I joined the company, mostly because I was surrounded by it.by entropy
Greetings fellow trousers. Does anyone use AMG information anymore? Up until May, I was employed at the company for 9+ years until most of my department was eliminated as part of a corporate cost-cutting effort. What brought me there was my prior knowledge of the company and my regular use of the books and the website. I always loved the editorial content and the ability to cross-reference on theby entropy
Never thought this would exist, but a "remastered" reissue of the bizarre Arcesia LP is available: Arcesia - Reachin' on Guerssen I wasn't familiar with this label, but it looks like they've rescued/restored a lot of rare, oddball music from the '60s and '70s. I ordered a copy from Forced Exposure and eagerly await its arrival.by entropy
Call me crazy, but I actually prefer the carefree fluff of McCartney's "Wonderful Christmastime" over "Happy Xmas." I find the lyrics of the latter to be preachy and condescending, and when I hear Yoko's voice in the chorus, I'm peace out. Plus, Celine Dion deemed it worthy of covering. Cred points lost.by entropy
This is the only release I've purchased that contains a different artist than advertised on the cover. I was always curious about the pseudo-Hassles but thought I'd never know the true identity of the band (this was before the internet was prominent). 20 years later, I cracked the mystery: Somehow, the Carlo Trenta tracks were released on a record credited to Billy Joel and tby entropy

Anyone recall/have any opinions on this band? I randomly stumbled upon their album India, and it's pretty enjoyable, but not groundbreaking, pop-rock. I'm working my way backwards in their discography (5 albums), and they started in a more progressive vein. It brings me back to an era when bands were given a bit of time over their career to stretch/evolve. I like the band for that aloneby entropy
Dear fellow trousers, I just completed a recording project and posted it to bandcamp. Indie pop & roll, mostly one-man-band style with a few friends helping out. Stream 'er for free!by entropy
Dedicated to reviewing forgotten discount bin LPs. If you're into that kinda thing, feel free to bookmark me.by entropy
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the early stuff was rather hard to find in the 90s. Of course you could find Street Fighting in any used CD bin for $3 (I agree that that album is the WORST). I had the first 2 albums on cassette, transfered to mp3. Just recently ordered the cd remasters. While I don't agree that Once Upon a Time is a bad album, I do think there's a pretty clear dividinby entropy
OK minds fans, let's geek out. I purchased 5x5 Live solely based on this posting, and I wasn't disappointed. It's a cool concept and they executed it very well. And I was also impressed with the fancy packaging. Nice little box with a booklet and poster. Well worth finding (I got mine for like $18 on amazon). I got into the band in the 90s, so my perspective on the Once Upon a Tby entropy

I discovered Beach House in 2012. My favorite album of the year, and dare I say (now that the initial love has worn off), one of the best bands of the past 10 years. Also really good: Chairlift, Bob Mould, Wild Nothing.by entropy

What's frustrating for me is I didn't read the book and think, you're right Bob, a reunion would be pointless. I think reunion is the wrong word actually. A reunion assumes there will be a tour, a greatest hits package, etc. I think that would be lame. I doubt that Grant can play drums the way he used to. But I do think ending it properly would be nice. I'd love to see a kickby entropy
I think Bob has definitely opened up in the past several years. The book explains the story behind it. The interaction between Grant, Greg and Bob (or Grant/Greg and Bob) since the Husker's breakup seems like a bunch of stumbles and miscommunication. Bob definitely seems like a hardass when it comes to his dealings with the other two. It's a shame. Despite his faults, it sounds like Graby entropy
I've seen him 3 times, most recently in Oct 2010. It was probably the best of the 3 shows. He played forever. Audience members casually came and went, like a performance at someone's house, and he kept going. He does requests. I requested "Anything" and he got sidetracked, then later I requested it again and he played it. There was a drunk woman there singing along loudly andby entropy

That's a track off the first album, sung by Randy Meisner, the guy with the high voice (Take It to the Limit). They really did become a different band by the end. I probably favor the laid-back country rock of the early years over The Long Run. That's a fairly grim album. I just read Don Felder's book. I never knew that he and Bernie Leadon were buddies and what led him to joinby entropy
is it just me, or does some of the early eagles material have shades of black sabbath in it? check the beginning of the guitar solo in "witchy woman." or what about the vocal in "take the devil." if it had distorted guitars and ozzy singing, wouldn't that be a sabbath track? more importantly, isn't this strange as hell?by entropy
I think Todd Runt had a couple of cringeworthy rap moments in the mid 90s also.by entropy
