So, what does it take to qualify as a "cool" drummer? Looking at these nominations, it appears to be more than just a matter of supreme talent or identifiable style. (Which is not meant to bag on any of the drummers mentioned above.)

Mark Brzezicki, formerly of Big Country, currently playing in Casbah Club (with Bruce Foxton of the Jam and Simon Townshend of Pete Townshend's brother) has been pretty dang cool for an awful long time.

Although Bun E. Carlos is tough to beat.

The coolest drummer in the world just has to be Charlie Watts, hands down, especially being in the Stones for so long & not getting into the weird scenes of the others.

Also, I just finished reading a book about the Pretty Things' tour of New Zealand in '65, which described the many wacky incidents involving their drummer Vivian Prince, who was second in the Gonzo Drummer stakes after Keith Moon & is still alive & crazy in Portugal.
