A Day in the Life

I put on the Minutemen's Ballot Result album about a half hour ago for some background music at work. The phone rang, it was Kathleen.
She called to tell me that my grandson Dustin called our home, he seemed a bit shook up about something that happened, and wanted to talk to me.
So, I rang him back and this is what he told me. He said he had just purchased some new lug nuts for his wheel rims and had them put on yesterday. All good.
But on the way home today, travelling about 60-65 mph he noticed a tire pass him to his left, he thought to himself, "What the...hey, that tire looks a lot like mine!" The vehicle went down hard on the driver side but never flipped. He's okay. Before I hung up the phone, I told him I love him.
Then I realized, The Minutemen was still playing.

Oh jeez! I hope nobody was hurt!

Oooh, yeah, D Boon died in a van crash on the road.

Like seeing a loved one eating a ham sandwich while listening to the Mamas and the Papas.

Glad he's OK, STEVE. Like Fab, I caught the Boon connection, and can still remember the day I got the news in 1985. It was kind of a "where were you when you heard JFK died" moment for me.

It's people like you lads that stop me in my tracks and wish my worst enemy had friends like you.
