Wow, so many requests! A record perhaps?

It might be a record, at least from the listening public at large. I've done at least one show for each of my siblings, where I invited them to pick the setlist.

The DJs at KSER have generally been getting more requests, thanks to a new system installed by the station. Our request line now works for texts as well as voice.

Do you ever get requests you turn down?

If I get a request for something I simply don't want to play, I tell the caller, "If I can find it, I'll play it." (This may be mealy-mouthed, but it's not a lie; I never say anything about actually looking for it.)

The only request I ever turned down flat was one for Warrant's "Ode to Tipper Gore." I knew that track from my friends who were, as Mr Toland said in another thread here, "veterans of the spandex wars." I told the caller, "Come on, I can't play that! It's just a bunch of dirty words strung together. The FCC will come down on this station like the wrath of God if I play it. And for what? Jeez, it doesn't even qualify as a song." The caller tried to goad me: "Come on, don't you want to just stick it to The Man?" I tried to tell him that "The Man" would be the one sticking the radio station for a hefty fine. But he just taunted me with, "So you're just too afraid to play it, huh?" I knew there was no point in arguing with this overgrown teenager, so I hung up.
