What kind of business is in the space that used to house CBGB? Is it still on to move CBGB to Las Vegas? The old 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C. moved to another part of town a few years ago and still thrives. Maybe CBGB can stay in New York.

The Bowery Residents Committee owns the building, and has been housing a couple hundred homeless people a night there. CBGB was the only commercial tenant. I'm guessing that the Committee is using the old CBGB space the way they used the rest of the building.

This is only a guess, though. I haven't seen any news or reports on this. Ira? Any insight to offer?

i was by there a couple of weeks ago on a Saturday afternoon and it was padlocked with the gate down. no signs of life at all. the awning frame is a lonely skeleton. the Gallery looked abandoned. There did not appear to be anything in development. I can't imagine how anyone could be living in the club, since I believe it was stripped to the bricks by Hilly as an archival excavation/salvage job.

Would that be the *Bowelry* Residents Committee?
