R.I.P. Chuck Negron

One of the three dogs of Three Dog Night. Lead vocalist on "One," "Joy to the World," "An Old Fashioned Love Song," etc.

Danny Hutton is now the last surviving Dog. I guess managing Fear was better for one's health than you would suspect.

Is that the same Danny Hutton who did a version of nik kershaw’s wouldn’t it be good on the pretty in pink soundtrack?

According to both Wikipedia and IMDB, yes, it's the same guy.

Because I just can't bring myself to start another R.I.P. thread, I'll piggyback Lamonte McLemore - founding member of the Fifth Dimension - onto this one. I'll excuse it by pointing out there was at least a surface similarity between Three Dog Night and the Fifth Dimension, in that both combos mainstreamed aspects of hippie culture to make it more palatable for the squares.

I think the Fifth Dimension were the biggest revelation of the Summer of Soul documentary. Most people went into watching that with the belief that the 5D were just the kinda dopey "I wanna marry Bill in a beautiful balloon while the sun shines in" people (a reasonable point of view), only to have the 5D deliver a completely unexpected kick in the ass.

And they have a star on the St. Louis Walk of Fame, so I have to rep for them. (While still being pissed that Joe Besser and Steve Gerber still don't have stars honoring them embedded in the sidewalk of Delmar Blvd. An outrage!)

Anyhow, rest in peace, Lamonte. Blame obituary fatigue for not getting your own memorial thread and getting interred in a shared grave with Chuck Negron.

I still miss Steve Gerber! I sold off all of my comic books…except for the Howard The Duck! You can still appreciate them…even more, as an adult.
