Never had a chance to see the Scorpions in concert, especially growing up in a conservative atmosphere, but I listened to them a fair amount in the 90's and their hit song "Wind of Change" came out right when I graduated from high school, so it became an instant anthem for my friends and I, driving around and wondering what lay ahead in our future. And, as noted, he was there for their most successful period, and the band's success waned after he left in 1992.

An incredible bassist, ty for everything Francis.

Before they became the kings of the power ballad (which isn't necessarily a knock, since they did it well), the Scorpions made some pretty interesting music, especially when Uli Jon Roth was in the band. "Sails of Charon," on which Buccholz played, was probably their greatest song, IMO. RIP.

I was gonna say the same thing. Fly to the Rainbow is a really good record, despite having one of the ugliest covers I've ever seen - which is saying something for this band. But their 70s music has often surprised me.
