X & Los Lobos Tour Canceled

Just saw a notification that the upcoming X & Los Lobos tour has been canceled due to "circumstances beyond our control."

Given that just yesterday I received an email offering reduced ticket prices, I have to assume that the plug was pulled due to low sales, which would suck, but I guess would be preferable to serious health issues.

Saw a recent pic of X live, and Billy Zoom was playing sitting down. So yeah, ol' Billy might not be up for the rigors of tour like this.

Damn, I just saw Neil Young the other night and he was on his feet roaming the stage for most of the 2-hour show (ok, he did sit at the keyboard a few times) and that dude's like 180 years old. Hasn't slowed down, near that I could tell.

Oh no. I kept seeing ads for it, but I think the show was for Baltimore and I never saw the details...

Saw Sparks last week and Ron still does his little dance during "No. 1 Song in Heaven" and he's 80.

Mark Caro just posted an interview with Louie Pérez, and apparently Louie had a heart attack this summer. It happened while they were playing a show in Massachusetts back in June, and as they were playing "La Bamba," he started feeling chest pains. After the number, he went off stage and told their road manager, and even though the pains faded, his manager took him to the hospital where he stayed overnight - the next morning, test results showed he was likely having a heart attack, so they took him to one of the major MA hospitals for surgery. (Fortunately because Louie told someone and fortunately for a road manager who was diligent, they caught it early before it became a real emergency.) Louie's actually in a great health, having quit both drinking and smoking decades ago and maintaining a meat-free diet, so it really came down to 1) age and 2) genetics (his father died in his 40's from a heart attack).

Anyway, it's a good interview that touches on a lot in under an hour:

PSA: I'm fine, We're all fine. The tour got cancelled, but not by us. It's business stuff....way above my paygrade, somewhere in the realm of managers, agents, and promoters, and I'm just talent, but I'm fine. Thanks for being concerned, but we're all fine, honest...a little curmudgeonly, but fine. We're still playing Reno and Riverside. BZ
