Ah, bummer. Not the biggest fan of his music, but he seemed like a genuine, earnest guy.

Nice Dune reference.

Mike Peters is up there with one of the most positive, genuine guys ever.

Peters was first diagnosed in 1995, and held on for three goddamned decades with a smile on his face. Good on ya, mate.

The Alarm's album Strength was one of my gateway drugs into alternative/college/TP rock. I'm still very fond of it.

Sad damn news, but he fought long and hard. Come on down and meet your maker, Mike.

Maybe I’m imagining this…. but was there a situation where Mike released a song but the video was younger/cute guys in an attempt to stir interest in his song ( or maybe get a hit just because people thought it was a hot new band)??

That reminds me - I recently watched Girl, You Know It's True, the Milli Vanilli biopic (wasn't much I wanted to watch one day and it was streaming somewhere or another) and actually got kind of choked up at the end (I was in a mood. But it actuallyis a pretty good movie). Those poor dumb bastards.

It was interesting that a 2023 unrated movie depiction of a made-for-(European) MTV 1980s Sabrina Salerno video actually had to tone things down considerably. (If you're unfamiliar with Ms. Salerno's videos, they're....memorable. Anyhow, Rob & Fab met as background dancers on one of her videos.) It was quite a demonstration of how much sensibilities have changed in the last 40 years.

That really has nothing to do with anything, but finding out that the Alarm attempted to pull a Boney M/Milli Vanilli/Technotronic put me in mind of having recently watched the Vanilli biopic.

And for those who don't know, the whole Alarm/Poppy Fields saga got a film based on the story called "Vinyl" in 2012!
