Leslie Bohem, bassist for Gleaming Spires and MTV-era Sparks, later became the screenwriter for such beloved screen gems as Dante's Peak, A Nightmare On Elm Street 5: The Dream Child, Jason Goes To Hell: The Final Friday, the Billy-Bob Thornton version of The Alamo, and several more.

His pappy was also a screenwriter and wrote several episodes of Rawhide.

Yep. I knew this. I was researching Gleaming Spires for the interview I had with David Kendrick. For a real head trip. see the 1993 movie "Twenty Bucks." It was a script treatment that the elder Bohem wrote in 1935 and his son, Leslie, discovered it and finished it off. It sounds pretty intriguing and the cast is really good. From Wikipedia:

Twenty Bucks is a 1993 American comedy-drama film directed by Keva Rosenfeld and starring Linda Hunt, Brendan Fraser, Gladys Knight, Elisabeth Shue, Steve Buscemi, Christopher Lloyd, William H. Macy, David Schwimmer, Shohreh Aghdashloo and Spalding Gray. The film follows the travels of a $20 bill from its delivery via armored car in an unnamed American city through various transactions and incidents from person to person. For his performance, Christopher Lloyd won the Independent Spirit Award for Best Supporting Male in 1994.

I still want to see this!

I remember reading about Twenty Bucks (or maybe saw Siskel & Ebert review it) and thought the concept sounded pretty interesting, but I've never managed to see it, either. Guess I'll see if it's streaming somewhere.

I saw this when it came out. Back then DC had a lot of little theaters that showed these kinds of movies. It wasn't bad. I don't remember much except the Christopher Lloyd Steve Buscemi vignette - that was good.
