Are you guys liking/interested in/ignoring the books coming out from Trouser Press Books? Any suggestions, criticisms, etc.? As this forum is as close to a target audience as we have, I'd be most grateful for any feedback (not to mention an unexpected avalanche of sales! I wouldn't be averse to setting up a special forum friends discount...)
Thanks
Ira

I've bought several of TP's books -- the two novels, all three Music in a Word volumes, and Zip It Up! I've really enjoyed all of them. This Ain't No Disco is next on my list.

I am one of the few, the proud, who bought "Kick It Til It Breaks"! Which i def recommend.
It's a stellar line-up of books. Certainly haven't read them all (yet), but they all look interesting and worthwhile. So I'd say keep it up.

UPDATE: Just ordered "Music in a Word, Vol. 1 "

I have really wanted to buy the "Zip It Up!" volume [I have bought a copy to give as a gift] but I've been on a policy of not buying any more books over the last 20 years and in fact, I've been selling off the contents of the bookshelf. I have a box full of things I need to flip as I type. Plus I'm on a low budget, but one day, I'd like to buy one. The other volumes I've not really investigated because… books. At 61 having a library of books isn't a goal any longer. The same with movies. I have zero time to read in any case.

Just got my copy, autographed by The Man himself. Looks yummy, can't wait to dig in.

I've bought a few of them and have enjoyed them all (Zip It Up most recently). I didn't realize I was part of an elite club for having read Kick It Till It Breaks! Really enjoyed that one too.

Not sure if it’s helpful to the cause or not, but I have petitioned to get several of the TP titles to be picked up by my local library.

As an aside, I’m reading ‘they just seem a little wierd’ by Doug Brod which I checked out of the library. I’m not far into it, but there’s been several quotes from Ira and many mentions of Binky Philips and the Planets.

I have read a few of them. The London Calling New York New York one looks fascinating, but I haven't picked it up yet. I have the Mitchell Cohen book sitting on a shelf to read soon.

I own all three of the old Record Guides. Am I to understand there are NEW books?

Or should I perhaps start lugging my old ones around the globe to exotic destinations and taking snapshots just like Amélie Poulain's Father's Garden Gnome?

I believe the kids call this Generating Content?

I wasn't counting the other two as "old" ... but so be it:

FIVE old record guides.

A good thing, too - the three guides I have are all falling apart from being read so much.

I'm so bummed I no longer have the first volume, which got lost in the mix somehow when I was clearing out my stuff from my mom's house after she died. I still do have all the others though.

One reason I wish I still had the first one is that I'd love to revisit the review of the Dream Syndicate, which I recall as being along the lines of "this is nothing the Psychedelic Furs haven't already done better." Reading Steve Wynn's bio recently made me think about it again, and even at the time I was kinda baffled by that comparison. Can anyone verify whether I'm sorta remembering that right?

Robert Palmer [NYT writer, not the singer] was a member of the IT.

I'm thoroughly enjoying listening to Trouser Press podcast #2 as I write.
So much so, that it will probably serve as a one- two punch. One, as a simple reminder about the books being out, and two, as a catalyst to finally buy them.
