Bassist for many, including Lou Reed, for whom he came up with a little riff for "Walk On the Wild Side."

Ian Gomm posted that he helped him achieve a hit in America, so I reckon that's "Hold on," which does have some spiffy bass work going on.

Worked with Bowie, Boland, Elton, etc.

Herbie was canny enough to double his bass line for "Walk On The Wild Side" so he got a double payment. Good thing too! He made the song…apart from the BVs. And Ronnie Scott's sax. And Lou's indefatigable cool.
