TP Potluck Set Part Deux
September 03, 2024 03:10AM
Over the weekend, I djed another exclusive TP potluck set, under the same conditions as my last one, a retrospective of the canon instead of big names (U2, R.E.M....) and top 10 hit-status. The playlist:

ABC - When Smokey Sings
Steel Pulse - Steppin' Out
Kurtis Blow - Basketball
Del Amitri - Kiss This Thing Goodbye

Material with Nona Hendryx - Bustin' Out
Sigur Ros - Dauoalogn
Inspiral Carpets - This Is How It Feels
Andy Prieboy - Death of New Wave

John Cale - Big White Cloud
Slowdive - Shine
Channel Light Vessel - Testify
Afrika Bambaataa - Pupunanny

Adam and the Ants - Friend Or Foe
Dwight Tilley - Girls
Eddy Grant - War Party
Blancmange - Blind Vision

Matthew Sweet and Susanna Hoffs - Run To Me
William Orbit - Love My Way (Best of Strange Cargo version)
Clan of Xymox - Louise
They Might Be Giants -Particle Man

Shelleyan Orphan - Epitaph, Ivy and Woe
Die Toten Hosen - Schonen Gruß, Auf Wiedersehen
Mojo Nixon - Love Me, I'm a Liberal
Seefeel - Polyfusion

Sonic Boom with Panda Bear - Livin' In the After
Killing Joke - Follow the Leaders
Michael Brook - Distant Village
Klaus Nomi - Lightning Strikes

Dif Juz - Love Insane
New Model Army - Christian Militia
Nico - These Days
The Waterboys - The Whole of the Moon

Overtime

Misfits - Where Eagles Dare
Brian Setzer Orchestra - The House Is Rockin'
Ryuichi Sakamoto - Launch (From the Proxima Soundtrack)
Blind Mr. Jones - Regular Disease*

* - Not a TP artist, but one of the best examples of Shoegaze I have ever come across, a band that was sadly short-lived in the mid-90's.

I am really fascinated by potluck lists/sets, it's such a rush to listen to so many disparate (seemingly, to some) genres and song structures in a single night. My usual potlucks come from all over the world; one list might include Swedish funk, Bulgarian State Women's Choir, Philippines Reggae and Egyptian bellydance, buttressed by 30-40 percent of TP songs as well.

I may add a couple of these artists to my next show. Thanks Bandit!
