Tim Walz: the TP VP

Tim Walz: the TP VP

Well, it’s finally happened, y’all. Someone of the TP generation could be hitting the White House:

Obviously, his favorite Replacements album would be the one they named after him, “Tim.“ But I would think his favorite Husker Du song would be “new day rising.“ I mean, that’s got ‘campaign theme song’ written all over it.

I don't remember the name of Hillary's running mate, but I remember that he was a big Cornershop fan, which was all the more reason to be pissed at how 2016 turned out.

Tim Kaine, also a big Replacements fan.

Marc Tracy of the NY Times actually got a follow-up from Bob Mould:

Bob Mould, the former Hüsker Dü frontman, said Tuesday that he had only just learned from Mr. O’Rourke’s post on social media that Mr. Walz knew his band’s music. “I’m pretty speechless,” he said. “I was doing a happy dance.”

Let's see, Walz is 60 now ... so he would've been 20 when The Replacements and Hüsker Dü both were hitting their peaks. Yeah, that sounds about right.

An old picture recently surfaced of K Harris' husband Doug Emhoff holding up a copy of "Give 'Em Enough Rope." Sure, it's one of The Clash's weakest albums (not counting "Cut The Crap"), but hey - a possible future First Gentleman apparently liked The Only Band That Matters enough to proudly display one of their albums. He might be a TP 1G.

Well, Emhoff would've been 15 when Give 'Em Enough Rope was released ... and for most Americans, that album would've represented their first opportunity to hear The Only Band That Matters. I can easily picture just about any stateside fan calling it his favorite Clash album; so often, it's about the feelings and enthusiasm associated with the moment of discovery (especially when one is young).

Yeah it’s crazy. When I see a serious candidate pictured with the Dead Kennedy’s “California Uber alles” 45, then I’ll know we’ve come full circle.

If Emhoff were a real punk, he'd be holding up a vinyl bootleg of ZEN ARCADE outtakes and calling the Clash sellouts. /s

Beautiful sentiment Mr. Fab.
It seems everyone knows Tim now.
And that's a world that I understand.

Clarification: Idolatry is a slippery slope.

It's not enough that Tim Walz expects others around him to work as hard as he does without fucking complaining or taking short cuts.
Until he personally oversees the seiZing and redistribution of assets of US billionaire and corporate offshore bank accounts (in order to build more schools, hospitals, TV game shows and toy stores), he's just another political wind bag.

If Walz held up a copy of The Big Heat and sang (in-tune) "Salesman," I'd vote for him.
