Lone Justice - first new album in 37 years

Lone Justice - first new album in 37 years

Maria McKee and others already posted about this as the project was coming together, as far back as two years ago, but it's still a surprise. I'm not sure if these are '80s recordings that have been finished or a full-out reunion decades after the fact (and before Don Heffington died), but it's the lineup that recorded their best material.

I've always liked this band, and I originally got to know them through the well-reviewed 1999 compilation This World Is Not My Home and their debut album which was usually found in budget bins at places like Best Buy. I didn't think there'd ever be growing interest in their work so I was surprised when beginning in 2014 Omnivore released a few classy CD's of their earliest studio and live recordings, pre-dating their ill-fated time at Geffen. I didn't think they reached their full potential but I'll check this out and hope for the best.

More info here.

That "through the advent of technoloy" comment makes me think at least some of this are repurposed previous recordings. I'm sure more details will emerge.

I would be very interested if these new recordings captured the fire that made them live sensations. Rarely has a hyped debut arrived with such a clunk as Lone Justice’s. Thanks for the tip on the Omnivore releases, belfast, I should check those out.

And in other LA cow-punk news:

-new X album now out!

-when the missus and I saw the rip-roaring Mavericks/Dwight Yoakum show last week, Dwight welcomed to the stage…Post Malone? Who contributed negligible backing vox and acoustic guitar for a few songs. There is apparently a collaboration of some sort in the works.

I suppose I was lucky, then: the hype never made its way to me. I heard Lone Justice thanks to a girl I was dating at the time. From start to finish, that album still hits fine and true. No hype involved. If anything, Shelter was the letdown.
