I haven't posted a Nugget on here since Hector was a pup, so here's the Sweetest Ache from Swansea, Wales circa 1990 - C86 on the cusp of dreampop/shoegaze.

Looks like they released an album and a few singles on Sarah back in the day, but I only recently stumbled upon them, and hoo-boy does this song scratch my 1988-92 itch.

Just superb. Not much else to say about it. What a find… and as breno mentioned it takes me back instantly to that era.

Curious to see that that Sarah Records compilation has a track from Sydney's Even As We Speak. Further investigation reveals John Peel got them some attention. Had no idea.

Even As We Speak's blend of indie pop and dancehall reggae, "Falling Down the Stairs," is one of the strangest songs Sarah Records ever released.

That's a great song! I am not a huge Sarah Records listener but I have had this in my MP3 collection for ages. And the record was named Feral Pop Frenzy which is hilarious.

If you want a comparison, that song reminded me a bit of 10,000 Maniacs with "Mother The War."
