Re: Paul Weller tour

Paul Weller tour
April 10, 2024 01:57PM
When the year started off, I resigned myself to the fact that this might be the year where the number of shows attended would start to drop because, well, we're all getting up there in years now. Boy, was I wrong. This year might be the most I've seen in maybe ever. And now Paul Weller just announced his first North American tour in seven years and I can't go due to a conflict (Hoodoo Gurus).

Dates:
09/06 – Red Bank, NJ @ Count Basie Center for the Arts
09/07 – Brooklyn, NY @ Kings Theatre
09/08 – Boston, MA @ House of Blues
09/10 – Glenside, PA @ Keswick Theatre
09/11 – Washington, DC @ Lincoln Theatre
09/13 – Toronto, ON @ HISTORY
09/15 – Chicago, IL @ Vic Theatre
09/16 – Minneapolis, MN @ First Avenue
09/19 – Seattle, WA @ The Moore
09/20 – Vancouver, BC @ Vogue Theatre
09/22 – San Francisco, CA @ The Fillmore
09/23 – San Francisco, CA @ The Fillmore
09/25 – El Cajon, CA @ The Magnolia
09/26 – Anaheim, CA @ House of Blues
09/27 – Los Angeles, CA @ Orpheum Theatre

I saw him at the Wiltern Theater in LA the last go around. Hard to believe that was seven years ago.

Thanks for posting this. I didn't realize he was coming back to the states but I am looking forward to seeing him again. This will be my 4th Weller show as I saw him once in the 1990s and another time in the early 2000s. He doesn't disappoint.

I'm starting to think next year will be that year for us ... not from lack of interest, or lack of choices, but lack of money! Damn, but the shows are getting expensive.

I'm seeing Slowdive on May 4, and I have seriously considered announcing my retirement from concert going after that. One of my favorite bands, so a good show to go out on.

Unfortunately, I have friends who I don't think will cooperate, so I'll probably still get dragged out to see the English Beat every damn time they come to town. Wakeling is always great, but I really have no need to see "Mirror in the Bathroom" any more.

I just checked the website for the Moore Theatre. No seats left on the floor ... and the sound quality in the balcony is nearly always crap. So yeah, I'll pass on this one. (Just glad I saw him at the Neptune, about eight years ago; now that was a great gig.)

I think I saw him here in Portland on that same tour, Delvin, and it was indeed pretty great. Since he's skipping Portland this time, it looks like I'll be missing out too. When he gets the boys back together for the All Mod Cons reunion tour, I guess I'll hafta make more of an effort to see him!

All Old Cons? [Delvin ducks!]

Weller rose to legendary heights with The Jam. And apparently, he knows that what becomes a legend most is to remain one.

As usual, he skips the entire southeastern US. I understand why...it's a small tour relatively speaking, and that's typical for him when he comes to the states. I just wish he'd come closer to Florida--I've been a fan for so long, and he's not getting any younger, so I don't think it's ever going to happen at this point. I've never traveled out of state solely for the purpose of attending a concert, but I would for Weller if I could drive to Atlanta, Charlotte, or somewhere of similar distance. DC is just too far.
