Kraut…nyc hardcore question

I’ve had Kraut’s ‘an adjustment to society’ in my vinyl collection forever. Great lp. TP recommended!

I’m convinced I first heard them when MTV started inexplicably playing their ‘all twisted’ video. I’m talking in the middle of the day… not on 120 minutes or late at night. Not heavy rotation, but I’ll bet I saw it like 3 times. It was as if they were trying to embrace hardcore like they would with hip hop later on.

Does ANYONE else recall seeing this video on mtv… and wondering why the heck are they willing to play this?

Your memory is correct. Wikipedia says that "All Twisted" was the first independent video to air on MTV!

I periodically take a look at a FB page which posts MTV playlists from the '80s. Some very unexpected videos, like the Fall's "Cruisers Creek," the Minutemen 's "This Ain't No Picnic" and a Bunny Wailer song on Shanachie, made it into regular rotation (even if that meant airing once a day at 3 AM for two weeks.)

Thnx steevee— apparently some adventurous programmers must’ve snuck some cool stuff in on occasion!

( you’d think mtv programmers and veejays would’ve been on a pretty tight leash…)

I remember seeing it too, Bip.
Cleopatra’s just recently reissued the album, along with their 7” singles.
